Textual Time Space

Inspired by Einstein’s theory of relativity.  Universal and relative simultaneous actions and personal texts are interwoven through poetry, video, and sound. 4 installations.

A Way Away

Commissioned Art Video, for DESIRE, Group Exhibition at Great Eastern Hotel, London 2005. Also exhibited in Valencia, Spain 2006.

A contemporary dancer dances on Millenium Bridge, London as dawn is breaking over London.

The audio background of fragments of English and Punjabi poetry by Parm Kaur, intercut with the sound of the dancer’s belled feet. A multilayered exploration of the desire for freedom. A multi-layered consideration of freedom from physical, political, cultural, and spiritual boundaries from the domestic to the public spheres.

Directed written, and produced by Parm Kaur. Commissioned by SONY PSP. Supported by the Arts Council of England, London.

From 2008 Parm has been focused on 2D works on pastels on paper, and oils on card and canvas.

Theatre & Live Art

Theatre as a visual art is not a new idea. Since 1994 Parm has been combining dance, live music, poetry, and movement in unique performances.

Her work has been supported by the Arts Council of England and various private trusts including the Fenton Arts Trust.

Feb 2004               Protect me from what I want 

Wrote and directed a short piece for 2 actors and 2 puppeters, performed at Young Vic Theatre, London

2003                       Directed extract of Derek Walcott’s 2-hander for the festival at Contact Theatre, Manchester

Sept 1998              Wrote Relatively Sane – (monologue  version), with video, commissioned and performed at the Brix Theatre, Brixton, London, (performed by Nina Wadia)

July 2000              Gibbering into the Mirror (2) Wrote, performed, and directed a one-woman show for Camden Peoples Theatre, London

May 2000             Gibbering into the Mirror, directed devised movement (2 dancers), video and sound performance at Gilmore Halls, Glasgow

Nov 1997              The Story of the Moon, wrote, performed, and directed (with 1 dancer and musician) at the Pegasus Theatre, Oxford, and Battersea Arts Centre, London

Sept 1996              Tracing the Lines of Our Palms – collaboration performance.Southwark Cathedral, London.
